VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)- Indiana State Police they’ll have zero tolerance for drivers who disregard a school bus stop arm or speed in a school zone. They also plan to have extra patrols during school hours.

Indiana State Police also remind drivers to watch for children waiting on the school bus.

The agency says students who walk to school should use sidewalks, walk with a friend or sibling and have something reflective on their backpack or coat so they can be seen in dark mornings.

“For the drivers that are doing the drop off, make sure make sure your following what the policies are for the local school corporation, make sure you’re not texting and driving, make sure your obeying the posted speed limit and as always watch out for the children getting in and out of the bus,” Sgt. Matt Ames said.
