MYRTLE BEACH — The city's Community Appearance Board will review plans on August 5 for a fast-food chain on the city's south end.

Kentucky Fried Chicken is looking to build a 3,371-square-foot restaurant with drive-thru at the currently vacant corner of Ninth South and Kings Highway. The franchisee is also asking for approval of a 24-foot-tall sign.

The 1.1-acre site sold this summer for $750,000.

More than 26,000 vehicles traveled on U.S. 17 Business daily and 2,600 on Ninth Avenue South in 2019, according to the listing on the property.

The Community Appearance Board meets at 1:30 p.m. August 5 in the Conference Room at the City Services Building, 921 North Oak Street.
