FRESNO Calif, (FOX26) — The Fresno Chaffee Zoo welcomed a new female Masai giraffe.
3-year-old Kiden was introduced to her new home and the other giraffes and can now be seen on the savanna in the zoo's African Adventure.

"Kiden is doing great and is exploring her surrounds," said lead zookeeper Michele Green. "The zookeepers that worked with Kiiden described her as being very confident around other giraffes, so we expect her to be comfortable and confident on the savannas once she settles in."
Earlier this year, reticulated giraffe Tsavo moved from the Fresno Chaffee Zoo Zoo to Oakland Zoo Zoo.
Through Tsavo’s move, the Zoo received a recommendation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan (SSP) to welcome Kiden from the Oregon Zoo.
The SSP promotes genetic diversity in giraffes under human care.

The Chaffee Zoo also has two reticulated giraffes: Jabari and Baba.
