Extensive damage caused to structure and vehicle in fire at Iona Gardens community

A fire that started in a vehicle and then spread to a manufactured home in the Iona Gardens section of Lee County on Monday caused extensive damage to the structure.

A fire alert was called in shortly before 8 a.m. at 12110 Cypress Drive, just off Thornton Road

Fire crews from Iona McGregor Fire District and the Fort Myers Beach Fire Department responded.

A fire that started in a vehicle and then spread to a manufactured home in the Iona Gardens section of Lee County Monday caused extensive damage to the structure.

Iona McGregor Fire Marshal Ed Steffens said the home and vehicle sustained extensive smoke and flame damage and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Iona McGregor fire department said there were no reports of injury.
