SAN ANTONIO — Three people became injured when a driver plowed into a construction convoy overnight near downtown – two of them are in serious condition, investigators said. That driver then ran from the scene on foot, police said.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the driver also hit two company vehicles. Two men, ages 23 and 21, were transported to Brooke Army Medical Center in critical condition and one 22-year-old woman was transported to Baptist Hospital with minor injuries.

SAPD said the suspect fled the scene and is facing failure to render aid and serious bodily injury.

According to preliminary information from SAPD, a silver Chevy HHR drove through the grass median around the closure vehicles, back onto the left improved shoulder and struck the woman who was standing next to a trailer on the left improved shoulder, causing her to break her leg.

Investigators said the driver kept going on the shoulder and struck the 23-year-old who was standing on the left shoulder next to the open door of his work truck.

The Chevy struck the vehicle door, continued driving and struck an arrow board trailer which was being hooked up by the 21-year-old victim, then the driver hit him as well, police said.
