Fulton County reopens COVID-19 rental assistance; residents eligible for $1,500

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — The Fulton County government has announced that it has reopened its COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance program Monday.

The program allows Fulton County residents to apply for rental and utility assistance.

Eligible applicants may qualify for $1,300 per month in rental assistance, and up to $200 per month to cover past due utilities. The second allocation of federal Emergency Rental Assistance opens eligibility to more residents, and allows for a longer period of relief.

Applicants should carefully review the qualifications and application. To apply online, go to www.fultoncountyga.gov/renthelp or call 855-776-7912 to speak to a live agent. Representatives will be available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. to help people with completing their applications.

The application opens Monday at noon.

In March, Fulton County first opened its rental application period based on an initial $18 million in federal funding. To date, $10.9 million in payments have been approved, representing 1,699 applications. Fulton County has received an additional $24 million in Emergency Rental Assistance funding, bringing the total amount of federal Emergency Rental Assistance funding to $42 million.

The county previously opened up the rental assistance in February.

“This was right on time, because people are hurting,” Commissioner Khadijah Abdur-Rahman said at the time. “Our staff has been working around the clock to get the program up and running. Too many families have had to choose between paying for medicine and food or keeping a roof over their heads. That to me, is just unacceptable in a civilized society.”
