Person struck, killed by train in New Orleans, NOPD investigating
The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a fatal accident involving a train that happened in the city Monday morningThe fatal accident was reported near Interstate 10 west and South Carrolton Avenue. Police were dispatched to the scene around 1:14 a.m. where officers found a woman who was ejected from her vehicle. She was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS, according to NOPD. NOPD said that the victim was traveling eastbound on I-10, when for reasons unknown, the victim's vehicle left the road and went onto the train tracks, at which time the victim was struck by the train and was ejected from the vehicle. NOPD Traffic Fatality Detective Danny Ellis is leading the ongoing investigation and can be reached at 504-658-6208 with any information regarding this investigation.
