SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. -- An East Tennessee waterpark shooting leaves one woman dead.

Officers with Sevierville Police Department responded to Soaky Mountain Waterpark for a shots fired call at 8 p.m. Saturday, but when they arrived they found a two female shooting victims in the parking area. They say 24-year-old Kelsy Cook, of Loudon, went to the University of Tennessee medical Center in Knoxville by air ambulance where she later died.

The other victim, 23-year-old Angie Russell, also of Loudon, went to the LeConte Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Witnesses informed police of a car in the parking area with the possible shooter. Officers stopped the car, arresting a man and a woman inside.

Police say they believe Sarah Romine, 31, of Knoxville, shot both victims. She is arrested and charged with second degree murder and multiple counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

Joshua Dannels, 30, of Crossville, is also arrested. He is charged with possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

An altercation that escalated is thought to be what led up to the shooting, say police.

The investigation is ongoing.
