Carnegie Mellon announced earlier this year that it is requiring students to be vaccinated ahead of the fall semester which starts Aug. 30.
"I think it's a good step to take precautions against the Delta variant," said graduate student Katherine Ye. "The health center and the head of my department have been saying that everybody is required to post their vaccination cards by tomorrow."
Monday is when the university wants proof that all students, both graduate and undergrads, are vaccinated by uploading documents to the university's online dashboard.
"I think it's fair. It's quite reasonable," said graduate student Xuanyi Li. "We're going to meet in class so I think it's necessary to get vaccinated before."
Students tell Pittsburgh's Action News 4 that they're looking forward to being in the classroom with others this semester and working on team projects, and that this requirement ensures everyone can feel protected.
"I also think it's a fair rule that everyone's vaccinated so we will feel more safe to study in a school," said graduate student Shen Gai.
Students may request an exemption for medical, religious, or ethical reasons, but must complete a separate form.
Free vaccination clinics will be offered by the university in August and September for any students who haven't been vaccinated.
