The Port Wentworth Alliance Church was scheduled to host a Back to School Bash on Sunday, but due to a positive COVID-19 case, the event had to be canceled.
The church says they didn't want to risk an outbreak.
Despite the cancelation, a few families still stopped by the church on Sunday to get free backpacks full of school supplies for the upcoming school year.
We're told there are still plenty of bags left for people to grab.
Tiffany Altman, Treasurer for Port Wentworth Alliance Church said, "We will be here for Wednesday night church from 6:15 to 8 o' clock. People are welcome to stop by, have dinner with us, stay for church or just stop by and pick up a book bag. They can also call the church and we can make arrangements to get them one or deliver them to you."
If you would like to get a book bag, the church is located on Cantyre Street.
