HEBER CITY, Utah, Aug. 1, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is dead, a child has been transported by medical helicopter, and several people have been transported by ground ambulances to area hospitals after a multi-vehicle collision in Heber City on Sunday afternoon.

The first call came to dispatch at about 3:28 p.m., Cpl. Michael Gordon, Utah Highway Patrol, told Gephardt Daily.

“There’s only one fatality, based on the information we have right now,” Gordon said. “A male was in a pickup traveling south on the highway, and for an unknown reason, he went from southbound to northbound lanes and he struck another vehicle head on.”

The pickup driver died at the scene.

Gordon said the child was transported by helicopter, but he did not know the age or extent of injuries suffered by the child. Nor did he know the age of the man who died.

Gordon said he was not sure at this point how many people were involved or injured, or even if a third vehicle might also have been involved in the crash.

Gephardt Daily will have more information as it is released.

The scene is about six blocks south of the site of a fiery crash on June 7, which involved four vehicles and killed three people, all women.
