The Kansas Highway Patrol responded to a crash in east Wichita Saturday after a vehicle drove into a pond.
According to reports, the car was heading eastbound on K-96 and went off the roadway, crossed a grass median and into oncoming traffic. The driver then hit a fence and crashed into a pond near an area Menards.
The KHP said the driver had a medical issue while driving, which caused him to lose control of his vehicle.
The 20-year-old driver managed to get out of the vehicle and swim to safety. He was transported to Via Christi St. Francis. No one else was injured.
