The Bryant children lost their mom, Dawn Bradley, just about a month ago to COVID-19 and now they say they're being forced out of the home she made for them all because of a waitlist.

Niyah Bradley said she and her siblings lost their 48-year-old mother, Dawn Bradley, to COVID-19 on July 4.

“We got to see her through the window which I think was the most heartbreaking part that we couldn’t be with her through that fight but we did get to hold her while she left the world so she wasn’t by herself,” Niyah Bradley said.

Dawn’s Son TJ Bryant said he and his siblings will remember their mom as a truly loving and creative woman who wanted each one of them to be successful.

“I know a lot of her recipes and she taught me how to cook so I’ll be cooking a lot of her food and I’ll be maybe make a drawing for her,” TJ Bryant said.

Niyah’s daughter, Gabriella, said her grandma Dawn loved her very much.

“She always wanted the best for us and even though she couldn’t always make it happen she still made something happen,” Gabriella Bradley said.

The Bryant children and their mom lived in Pleasanton Hills Mobile Home Community in West Mobile. Shortly after Dawn's death, Niyah was told by the owner that because the lease was in her mom's name they could not continue living there.

“These are children that have just lost their home and just lost their mother. Their whole life has been turned upside down in less than a month,” Niyah Bradley said.

Niyah said she was told she couldn't put a new lease in her name due to a waitlist of people trying to live in the rental community and they had until the end of July to pack up and move.

“Even though the bills were current they just did not leave us with that option to be able to stay in the house,” Niyah Bradley said.

Niyah said her mom just graduated from college and Dawn wanted the same for her son, Peter, who is supposed to start in the fall but they’re now dealing with some financial aid issues.

“I wanted to go to college. Not saying I didn’t want to but I’m doing it for her and for me,” Peter Bryant said.

Niyah said she wants families listening to this story to get vaccinated so that they don’t have to go through this too.

“I watched, firsthand, my mother take her last breath because she could not fight what this was and there is a new strand out there that is more powerful than the original one. Just stay safe, be smart, cherish each other and do not get yourself in a position to where you too have to say goodbye because you didn’t take the necessary steps,” Niyah Bradley said.

NBC 15 News reached out to the Pleasanton Hills Mobile Home Community for comment and is waiting to hear back from them.

Niyah says she hopes this doesn't happen to another family.

If you'd like to help there is a GoFundMe set up to cover expenses of finding a new place to live and help with Peter's college tuition.
