MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A local favorite is making a comeback. The Puerto Rican Family Festival is happening for the first time since 2019 on Sunday, Aug. 1.

This year's festival is happening at Wilson Park until 7 p.m. Visitors have the opportunity to listen to traditional music, dance, and try some iconic Puerto Rican food.

CBS 58 spoke with an organizer who said Sunday's event is important to bring Puerto Rican culture to Milwaukee.

"We as a people enjoy sharing our culture. We as a people as a people love to share our food," Cecil Negron said. "We as a people love to love. And that's what we're showing this year. We're very proud that we can bring this to our people."

If you still need to get vaccinated, they are offering free vaccines. Organizers hope to bring vaccination awareness to the Hispanic community, which has experienced a lot of hesitancy towards getting vaccinated.

CBS 58 and Telemundo Wisconsin are proud sponsors of the Puerto Rican Family Festival.
