(UPDATE 8/4/21) Ontario and Wayne counties have moved back to moderate risk.

Original story: According to the CDC COVID Data Tracker, Monroe, Wayne, Ontario and Seneca counties are among those in New York now considered "substantial" when it comes to risk of COVID-19 transmission.

Genesee, Orleans, Wyoming and Livingston counties are currently deemed "moderate" risk, while Yates County has been designated as "low."

A county is deemed "substantial" when it records 50-100 cases per 100,000 people, or has a positivity rate between 8-10 percent.

The CDC recommends that fully vaccinated people wear masks in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission.

Those unvaccinated are recommended to wear a mask in all areas.
