Police investigate carjacking in San Ysidro
The thief poked something into the victim’s back and demanded his wallet and the keys to his 2020 Mercedes-Benz
A man walking to his Mercedes-Benz parked near a San Ysidro restaurant Sunday morning was carjacked after the thief jabbed his back with an unknown object and demanded his keys, San Diego police said.
The carjacking happened around 7:40 a.m. near the Denny’s restaurant on Calle Primera off Interstate 5, police said.
The 31-year-old man was walking to his car — a white, 2020 Mercedes-Benz — when the carjacker came up behind him and pressed an unknown object into his back, according to police. The thief demanded the man’s car keys and wallet, police said, then drove off in the victim’s car.
No one was reported injured.
No other information was immediately available.
