Carson City arrests: Man wearing necklace with concealed knife arrested for alleged offenses
A 35-year-old man was arrested Thursday for suspicion of destruction of evidence and possession of a concealed dangerous weapon among other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
According to the booking report, a deputy observed a man standing outside of a grocery store charging his phone on one of the store's external outlets.
The officer approached the Dayton man and gained his consent to speak. He was initially cooperative, providing the deputy with his full name and other identification information.
Dispatch advised the subject was under Department of Alternative Sentencing supervision. Dispatch advised that one of the conditions was search and seizure for alcohol, drugs and drug paraphernalia.
The man provided verbal consent for a search. However, as the deputy began putting on gloves, the man began reaching into his pockets. The officer advised the man to stop reaching into his pockets. The man claimed he was attempting to get a cigarette, and continued to manipulate and remove items from his pockets, the arrest report states.
The officer again instructed the man to stop entering his pockets and removing items. The man continued to retrieve items from his pocket, removing a blackish, blue cloth. The officer ordered the man to stop his action and to place his hands on the wall behind him.
Failing to obey the officer's order, the man unfolded the piece cloth. The officer approached the man, who then dropped the cloth. He held a unidentified object in his right hand, which he then raised above his head. He then threw a glass object on the ground, where the officer heard the glass shatter, the report states.
The officer secured the man's hands and placed him under arrest. The officer completed a search incident and located and removed a small knife with a green handle on a necklace around his neck. The knife was approximately five inches long. He kept the knife in a black sheath that he hung around his neck, concealing it under his shirt. The deputy did not see or noticed the concealed knife until conducting the search, the report states.
Dispatch advised the Department of Alternative Sentencing wanted the deputy to add an addition charge of violation of bail conditions. He was placed in a patrol vehicle.
The deputy canvassed the immediate area looking for evidence and observed the blackish blue cloth on the ground. Approximately 30 feet southeast there were approximately 10 glass pieces spread across the sidewalk. Some glass pieces contained burnt black residue. Three glass stem fragments contained a cloudy white residue on the internal hole, the report states. With these observation, the officer identified it as a pipe associated with methamphetamine use.
The man was booked for the following offenses: Possession of a concealed dangerous weapon and destruction of evidence, both gross misdemeanor offenses; misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction and violation of bail conditions. Bail: $9,549.
