UPDATE: August 3, 2:45 p.m. — On Tuesday, NOPD announced the arrest of two men for their alleged connection to the shooting investigation.

Police arrested 22-year-old Markez Jefferson and 20-year-old Nathan Saavedra.

According to the NOPD, the two men were positively identified using surveillance video.

Both suspects were arrested and booked in the St. Bernard Parish before being transferred to Orleans Parish.

Jefferson, who police believe was a shooter in the incident, was booked on five counts of attempted second-degree murder.

Saavedra faces a single charge of obstruction of justice.

As of Tuesday afternoon, police were still searching for Kareem Carter, another suspect believed to be involved in the shooting incident. If convicted, he faces charges of illegally carrying a firearm by a convicted felon and obstruction of justice.

UPDATE: August 2, 2:30 p.m. — On Monday, NOPD issued an arrest warrant for 29-year-old Kareem Carter for his alleged involvement in the shooting.

Carter is wanted for obstruction of justice and illegal carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police are also seeking an unidentified black male suspect in the investigation, as well as two additional persons of interest.

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department began investigating a shooting that injured five people on Bourbon Street early Sunday morning.

According to NOPD, it happened at the intersection of Bourbon Street and Orleans Avenue.

EarthCam video (shown above) secured by Nexstar’s News Nation shows people fleeing after hearing a myriad of gunshots ring out around 3:00 in the morning.

According to the NOPD, officers on the scene were able to detain a person believed to be involved.

The investigation is currently ongoing.

There is no word of the victim’s conditions at this time.
