WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Construction around the Town Common in West Springfield begins Monday; commuters are advised to expect delays on Park Street and Park Avenue.

Mayor Will Reichelt posted an alert on social media advising residents of the construction on Sunday. According to the map, the following improvements are expected around the Town Common:

  • Improved crossings
  • Path connections to Elm Street
  • New signal equipment
  • Mill and overlay street
  • Curbing
  • Restripe travel lanes
  • Remove bus stop on Park Street near Lathrop Street
  • Add a raised crosswalk along Lathrop Street, Hanover Street
  • News 8″ concrete sidewalk
  • 10′ concrete shared use path
  • Replace landscaping
  • Remove and relocate bus stops on Park Avenue
  • Full depth pavement reconstruction along approach
