NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Ten people were shot, including seven bystanders and three known gang members, in a “brazen, coordinated attack” by four masked and hooded men on a busy Queens street Saturday night, police said.

The NYPD released surveillance video Sunday morning that shows two gunmen on foot and two men on scooters turning eastbound onto 37th Avenue from 97th Street in North Corona around 10:40 p.m. before the gunmen fire dozens of shots towards a crowd.

Three known Trinitario gang members were struck by bullets, as were seven bystanders, who police said were either attending a birthday party in the area or just walking by.

The victims—eight men and two women who range in age from 19 to 72 years old—all suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to area hospitals.

The most serious injury was a gunshot wound to the stomach, police said. Most of the victims suffered gunshot wounds to their legs.

The three gang members who were shot are believed to be the intended targets, but police said the investigation is ongoing.

At least 40 shell casings or deformed bullets were recovered at the scene as a daylight search of the area continued Sunday.

NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig called the shooting “a brazen, coordinated attack.”

“Two guys just stick their arms out, walk down a very crowded street at 10:30 at night—where there’s parties going on, restaurants going on, crowded streets. The two scooters then follow up on them. After the shooting, after they fire at least 37 times that we know of, they calmly get back on the scooters and take off. So very brazen to say the least,” Essig said.

The NYPD is asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
