Woman killed in Providence drive-by shooting

A 24-year-old woman was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting on Olney Street in Providence early Sunday morning, police said.

The victim, who has not been identified, was outside her automobile across from Roger Williams Green and the University Heights Apartment complex when the shooting happened around 3:30 a.m., Maj. David Lapatin said.

The woman was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and pronounced dead.

No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting, but police are investigating, Lapatin said.

The victim lived in Warwick, Commander Thomas Verdi told the Journal.
