The Lynchburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority has many resources to assist people struggling to pay rent, following the eviction moratorium on July 31.

Mary Mayrose, Executive Director of the Lynchburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority, said the Virginia rental relief program is one of the best. She said it is very simple to enroll in, and the payment goes directly to the landlords.

"I'm so relieved. I'm so happy that we're not going to have to face hundreds of termination of leases for nonpayment of rent," said Mayrose.

She also said the organization is working directly with renters to help them figure out the next steps.

"We've set up one-on-one appointments with our families to sit down and go through this application process to figure out what was the cause of the rent rears, and how can we address this issue," Mayrose said.
