Smoke forces cancellation of Trollwood's 'Cinderella' tonight

Smoke from Canadian wildfires has led to the decision to cancel tonight's show.

MOORHEAD — As smoke from wildfires in Manitoba and Ontario continues to hover over the Fargo-Moorhead area, tonight's performance of "Cinderella" at the Trollwood Performing Arts School has been canceled.

"With the health and safety of Trollwood Performing Arts School students, staff members, and audience members in mind, tonight’s performance of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella has unfortunately been canceled," a press release from Fargo Public Schools stated.

Moorhead is currently under an air quality alert from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency . Air quality in the Fargo-Moorhead area is currently considered to be unhealthy for sensitive groups, according to the U.S. Air Quality index .

"Trollwood and Fargo Public Schools have made the difficult decision to cancel tonight’s show following consultations from the North Dakota State University Climate Office and Fargo Cass Public Health," the release continued.

It's been a difficult season for Trollwood thus far. 50-mph wind gusts damaged the set and scrapped a performance Wednesday, July 21 . Earlier this week, poor air quality was also the culprit behind the cancelation of Thursday's show .

Tickets for tonight's show will be refunded in full, Fargo Public Schools said.

Tickets for Sunday's performance, which will be the final show, can be purchased by calling the box office at 218-477-6502 or by visiting trollwood.org . Prices range between $15 an $35.
