Scholarships and grants
- National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced this year's National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners. The 2,500 Merit Scholar designees were chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 finalists in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program. Area recipients include: Martin L. Altenburg, Fargo North High School; David T. Dowdell, Fargo North High School; Jasper L. Keller, Shanley High School, Fargo; Catherine Xu, Fargo Davies High School and Zachary M. Nelson, homeschool, Alexandria, Minn.
- The Cass County Area Retired Teachers' Association has awarded its scholarships for 2017. All scholarships are awarded to upperclass college students who are majoring in education and each scholarship is $1,000. CCARTA's Don Papke Scholarship was awarded to Rachel Hall of North Dakota State University. Two Ethel R. Hanson scholarships were awarded to Jordyn Berger of Minnesota State University Moorhead and Gabrielle Filley of Minnesota State University Moorhead. The Roger and Mary Hoffmann Family Scholarship was awarded to Hannah Gress of Valley City State University.
Interns
- Steffan Stroh and Kirsten Schumacher are interning with Aldevron in Fargo for the summer. Stroh is working toward a degree in biotechnology at North Dakota State University in Fargo, while Schumacher is pursuing a degree in medical laboratory sciences at UND.
