BALTIMORE (WBFF) - The woman charged in the horrific deaths of two children is behind bars after waiving her bail review Friday. Nicole Johnson, the children's aunt, is facing felony abuse charges.

According to court documents Johnson drove around with the dead children for months. A Baltimore County police officer says he smelled "the unmistakable odor of decomposition" after pulling Johnson over for speeding.

Marsha Johnson has heard the grim news about Nicole Johnson, no relation. She fought back tears Friday as she spoke about the case.

At one time, the two women and the children lived next door to each other on Elmora Avenue in northeast Baltimore.

The details that police describe involving the aunt and how the children were found in the trunk are simply too much for Ms. Johnson to hear.

"You don't know how the kids suffered. It's really a hard pill to swallow, it is, it is. I feel for Nicole but my heart just goes out to those children," said Johnson.

Nicole Johnson, who's 33-years-old, faces felony child abuse charges.
