SEATTLE - No shot, no service.

More restaurants and bars across Seattle now require customers to show proof of vaccination before entering.

This comes after at least nine bars temporarily closed - after workers either tested positive for COVID-19 or came into contact with an infected person.

Musang restaurant on Beacon Hill in Seattle says their restaurant building awareness and growing a community.

“It is our job to help educate and promote Filipinex cuisine,” said Owner and Chef Melissa Miranda.

With more than 20 employees, Miranda says she wants to make sure her staff is safe.

As of today, new rules take effect in her restaurant. The requirements, now posted on Instagram.

“Basically, we posted yesterday evening (Thursday evening) that we’d be requiring our guests to bring proof of vaccination and ID or results of a negative test,” said Miranda. “The decision is since there are a lot of restaurant workers that are catching COVID even though they’re vaccinated.”

Miranda recognizes that it’s an inconvenience for many people.

“I know there will be some pushback. But, I feel for myself, my staff, and my family this is the safest thing,” said Miranda.

Navy Strength in Belltown, Seattle is one of several businesses that have had vaccinated workers who tested positive for COVID-19.

They join a growing list of Seattle bars and restaurants now requiring guests to prove that they’ve been vaccinated.

“We started doing this two days ago (on Wednesday) and most people have been really accepting of it,” said Stephen Brenden of Liberty Bar in Capitol Hill, Seattle. “If they don’t have the card on them or they can’t find a photo. They run home and take a picture or have a partner send a photo.”

Signs are now clearly posted in their windows announcing the new requirements.

“I’m hoping more and more bars and restaurants start doing it. We’re around people all day long. We want to be safe. Want to keep the neighborhood safe,” said Brenden.

More than three dozen Seattle restaurants and bars now require vaccinations for guests. And that list is growing.

Large local event organizers — such as Pax West may also require guests to show proof of vaccination.
