Hot August Nights returns to northern Nevada

RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Hot August Nights will kick off in Virginia City Friday, July 30.

The events make up the world's largest car show, returning to northern Nevada for the 34th year in 2021.

Show-n-Shine, live entertainment and a poker walk are just some of the events hitting the historic mining town of Virginia City on July 30 and 31.

There will be a second kick off for the Reno/Sparks area starting on Monday, August 2 at the Peppermill resort and casino.

The City of Sparks announced road closures for the events from August 2-9 as follows:

Monday, August 2 at 12:30 a.m. – Monday, August 9 at 6:00 a.m.

• Victorian Avenue at Victorian Plaza Circle West (14th Street) to Pyramid Highway
• Victorian Plaza Circle East (11th Street) from C Street to Victorian Avenue.
• 11th Street/Victorian Plaza Circle east at Nugget Ave. (gated with security – this is the entrance for registered participants for Show and Shine)
• Avenue of the Oaks will not a through street and will be closed on either side of Galaxy Theatres Victorian.
• 10th Street (southbound only) next to the alley (alley is open for deliveries.)

The City of Sparks also asks attendees to be advised of road/sidewalk closures due to construction on Victorian Plaza Circle West (14th Street).

Cruise road closure information Wednesday, August 4, through Saturday, August 7, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

• Eastbound and westbound Pyramid Way off-ramps will be closed.
• Pyramid Way will be closed from C Street to I-80 on-ramps.
• Pyramid Way on-ramps will be open with traffic diversions on Pyramid under the structure to Nugget Avenue.
• Eastbound Rock on-ramp will be closed to alleviate Pyramid Way eastbound closure complications.
• Vehicles are asked to enter the cruise at 21st Street and Victorian Avenue as side streets will be closed to registered cars entering during the cruise events.
