A veteran of the Ridgeland Fire Department has worked his last shift on the job.Capt. Todd Yelverton retired Friday after 25 years with the department."It's really bittersweet," Yelverton said. "It's something that I've absolutely loved doing every day. Coming to work and helping the citizens all these years has just been amazing."Yelverton said retiring allows him to spend more quality time with his family. The department and the city of Ridgeland held a retirement celebration for him Friday.After turning in his equipment, Yelverton said he begins his new job Monday with the Army National Guard.

A veteran of the Ridgeland Fire Department has worked his last shift on the job.
Capt. Todd Yelverton retired Friday after 25 years with the department.
