Here are the best spots in Pueblo to satisfy your sweet tooth

If you've got a sweet tooth, Pueblo has a troupe of shops to satisfy all your cravings.
From candy stores to nationally renowned bakeries, there are plenty of options to find homemade candies, cookies, cakes and more.
Here is a list of some of Pueblo's most notable candy shops and bakeries.

Taffy's is one of Pueblo's most beloved candy shops
Taffy's was originally Sambo's and was owned by the Corsentino family.
Just over 40 years ago, Ken and Lynda Connors purchased the candy shop and rechristened it as Taffy's.
Taffy's, located at 114 W. Abriendo Ave. in the heart of Mesa Junction, has since become one of Pueblo's most popular destinations.
The store offers everything from caramelos, to peanut butter cups, to chocolate turtles to cinnamon popcorn and more. Taffy's also is known for its peanut clusters and peanut brittle — both popular requests from children and adults alike.
Taffy's is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.

Maggie's Candy Kitchen and Bakery is the newest addition to Pueblo's candy and sweets scene
Sisters Nettie Williams and Pennie Gaudi own Maggie's Candy Kitchen and Bakery located at 965 W. U.S. Highway 50, unit 120.
Williams and Gaudi are the fourth generation of bakers and confection connoisseurs. The store is named in honor of their late mother Maggie Gaudi who laid the foundation for the business in 1960.
The sisters began their business in Canon City, but moved to Pueblo in July of 2020.
Maggie's offers sweets like fudge, brittles, toffee, turtles, peanut clusters, chocolate dipped fruits and more.
Maggie's is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Schusters is one of Pueblo's oldest, most recognized bakeries
Banquet Schusters Bakery, 115 E Abriendo Ave,, opened in 1923 and has since been a Pueblo staple.
Schusters is known for its freshly baked donuts. Foodandwine.com listed Schusters as having Colorado's best donut in 2020.
In addition to its delicious donuts, the bakery offers chiffon cakes, potato rolls, loaves of Slovenian walnut bread and Pecan Sandies. Schusters offers cookies and cakes for every occasion, a variety of other baked breads, cupcakes and more.

Bite Me Cake Company combines sweet treats, booze and arcade games
Bite Me Cake Company, 223 S. Union Ave., has everything from cakes, cupcakes, brownies and homemade ice cream, to coffee, art for sale and its arcade and bar.
In the store's basement, patrons can responsibly enjoy alcohol while taking a nostalgic trip to a retro-style arcade at the Flip A Coin Arcade Bar.

Hopscotch Bakery has quickly become a Pueblo staple
From cookies to cupcakes to turnovers and sticky rolls, Hopscotch Bakery has Pueblo covered.
The bakery, located at 333 S. Union Ave., opened in 2005 and has quickly made its mark on Pueblo's sweets and eats scene.
Hopscotch is one of few places patrons can purchase authentic biscochitos.
In addition to its sweets, Hopscotch also serves lunch. The bakery offers sandwiches, salads and grilled chicken.
Hopscotch is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Zoelsmann's Bakery has served Pueblo for more than 100 years
Opened in 1898 by Otto Zoelsmann, Zoelsmann's Bakery and Deli, 912 E. Abriendo Ave., has served Pueblo citizens a variety of baked goods and deli items including hard-to-find items like capricola and Sicilain green olives.
Zoelsmann's offers a variety of breads, pies, cookies, potica, pumpkin rolls, deli meats and cheeses.
The bakery and deli is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
