One woman died and another was injured seriously when they were hit by a vehicle in Berkeley on Monday, police said.
Police said officers received multiple calls about the collision at Ashbury Avenue and Newbury Street at about 9:56 p.m. According to police, both women were pedestrians.
Both women were transported by ambulance to a hospital, but one of them died there. The other remained in stable condition Tuesday, police said.
Authorities have not released her name until they have contacted her family.
Police spokesman Officer Byron White said the driver stopped at the scene and spoke with officers. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, he said.
