PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – A woman from Youngstown was stopped at the TSA checkpoint in the Pittsburgh airport on Monday.

She had a loaded 9 mm gun with seven bullets in her purse.

Allegheny County police confiscated the gun and questioned the woman.

She told police she forgot she had a loaded gun with her.

Right now, she is not being named because she has not been charged.

Travelers are not permitted to carry their guns onto airplanes, however, passengers are allowed to transport their firearms as checked baggage if they are properly packed and declared at their airline ticket counter to be transported in the belly of the plane.

So far this year, there have been 16 firearms caught at the Pittsburgh airport, compared to 21 in 2020 and 35 in 2019.
