Buffalo is about to experience its biggest escape room to date. Yes, we’ve seen some large scale scavenger hunts, but nothing quite like City Scavenger’s pirate-themed escapade that will have participants (donned in pirate clothing) searching for Cap’n Graybeard’s map that has been lost somewhere in Downtown Buffalo.
During the pandemic, just about everything came to a grinding halt, including escape rooms. For that reason, the idea of an outdoor treasure hunt has become more appealing than ever, especially one that is as colorful as this one.
“The Pirates Treasure Hunt is an entertaining experience that blends components of an escape room without being confined to an indoor space,” said Chief Creative and Event Producer, Steve Tishman. “City Scavenger uses proprietary technology to layout a virtual ‘where is it’ board game across the city and engages Swashbuckling Teams (composed of two to six participants), to explore various sites where ‘virtual’ pirates test your knowledge, your powers of deduction, and your creativity before providing pieces of the treasure map. With each completed challenge, the teams earn points and collect map pieces to discover the secret location of the buried treasure; upon completion, bragging rights and prizes are awarded for the highest score, best-costumed team, and most creative team name.”
If you’ve been holding out for safe passage… now is your opportunity to get back to into the swashbuckling swing of things. On Saturday, August 14, friends and families are invited to partake in the The Pirates Treasure Hunt. Here’s all that you need to know:
The Pirates Treasure Hunt takes between 2.5 and 3 hours to find the treasure and is designed for teams of 2-6 Old Salts & Scallywags (adults and teens). Tickets are available for $50 per team (plus a $2.50 ticketing fee).
Lads & Lassies (kids under 12) who might like to join? Great! They can participate for free. The Buffalo experience is scheduled for August 14th, with the first Pirates beginning at 10:00 a.m. Teams can begin their adventure between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., however, all Pirates must complete their Hunt by 4:00 p.m.
