BART experienced a major delay early Monday after an equipment problem on the track affected the San Francisco line in several directions.

According to the agency, trains bound for the San Francisco Airport, Millbrae and Daly City were affected, as were trains moving toward the East Bay. BART officials on Twitter said there was a power supply problem between the Embarcadero and Powell Street stations.

Crews resolved the equipment issue by 6:45 a.m., officials said, and BART was working to get back to a normal schedule. Residual delays continued even after the problem was fixed, but BART said that by 8:30 a.m. the delays were down to 10 minutes.

BART said the issue started just after 5:30 a.m.

The San Francisco Muni system provided aid for all passengers traveling between the Embarcadero and Daly City stations and continued to do so as long as the trains were delayed, according to BART.

Passengers traveling to San Francisco from Richmond were told to take the Berryesa line and transfer at the 12th Street station in Oakland, along with passengers on the Dublin line. A shuttle is taking passengers between Bayfair and the Dublin/Pleasanton stations, and trains on the Antioch line were still able to go through San Francisco directly.

Those trains through San Francisco were single-tracked, officials said.
