Travel is already a headache these days. For passengers on a routine flight to Orlando from San Francisco on Thursday, one teenager made it even worse.

United Airlines flight 2167 departing from San Francisco International Airport was delayed due to a security issue involving a customer on board, according to a statement from United.

A teenager sent a photo of an airsoft gun to other passengers on the plane just as the flight was leaving the gate, prompting officials to remove every passenger from the aircraft, according to reporting by NBC Bay Area.

As a precaution, all customers deplaned and were rescreened and the aircraft was inspected as well before reboarding.

It was determined that the photo was taken at an earlier date and at a location not at an airport. The teen did not have the gun on him.

According to United, law enforcement officials were notified and the airline is working with them to review this matter.

The teenager was not allowed to get back on the plane.

SFO did not immediately respond to a request for comment from KCBS Radio.
