PHOENIX – In the wake of Arizona legalizing marijuana for recreational use, a central Phoenix boutique hotel is going to pot.

The Clarendon Hotel and Spa at 401 W. Clarendon Ave., near Indian School Road and Seventh Avenue, is now calling itself the state’s first cannabis-friendly hotel and has designated some of its rooms for marijuana use.

The hotel also is promoting cannabis-infused dining experiences, including an “Elevated Under the Stars” six-course meal from chef Derek Upton on Monday night.

“We are a cannabis-friendly hotel and have a cannabis-friendly event company that is elevating and educating the community about cannabis,” Daron Brotherton, vice president of operations, said Thursday in a press release.

The cannabis rooms are on the property’s west side and equipped with “scrubbers” to freshen the air, according to the release. Those rooms will also undergo deeper cleanings. Tobacco smoking remains prohibited in any room.

The hotel will offer guests car service to a local licensed dispensary so they can purchase edibles, flower and vape products for consumption back at their rooms.

Adults 21 and older can start booking the cannabis rooms Sunday by calling 602-252-7363 or through the Bud and Breakfast website.

Visit the Clarendon’s website for more information about the venue.
