Some States Are Vaccinating for COVID Faster Than Others, Here's How New York Stacks Up
Published:
An estimated 161,631,676 Americans have been fully vaccinated, or 49.4% of the U.S. population.
So far, states have largely managed their own vaccination coordination efforts — and some have proven more efficient at it than others. In New York, 55.9% of the population are fully vaccinated, higher than the U.S. average.
As of July 20, New York has received about 24,541,800 vaccinations and administered about 91.8% of those doses.
As the virus mutates and new variants spread, vaccinating the population as rapidly as possible is critical. In total, there have been 2,125,280 confirmed cases of the virus in New York as of July 20 — or 10,875 for every 100,000 people. For context, there have been 10,313 known infections for every 100,000 people nationwide.
All COVID-19 and vaccination data used in this story are current as of July 20, 2021.
