Alameda's China House Restaurant Closes After 53 Years

The restaurant served Chinese food to generations of residents and visitors.

ALAMEDA, CA — Alameda’s China House restaurant opened its doors in 1968 and was a go-to for generations of Alamedans. Now, it has closed permanently.

The restaurant's last day was May 25.

"Since China House first opened its doors in 1968, we’ve enjoyed timeless meals and memories with so many of your families," the restaurant said in an Instagram post. "Sadly, the time has come for ours to move on to the next chapter. It’s very hard to say goodbye, but we look forward to what the future holds for both our customers and crew. Thank you for your continued support throughout this past year. We will miss you, Alameda."
