KTVU was off the air for hours Monday morning after a reported power outage and technical difficulties.

The station was off the air for about five hours, and resumed its regularly scheduled programming just after 10 a.m. with “The Wendy Williams Show,” already in progress, popping onto the screen.

A spokesperson for KTVU did not return calls seeking information about whether the station had determined the cause of the outage and technical difficulties.

The KTVU outage was not related to any outages in or around KTVU’s station in Oakland’s Jack London Square. PG&E spokesperson Tamir Sarkissian said PG&E reported no outages in the area, and responded to the station to see if it was related to their service.

“It was unrelated to any PG&E equipment and not related to any outages in the area,” she said.

Previously, the signal was restored shortly before 9 a.m., but the station continued to experience technical difficulties and broadcast a national Fox news feed with some local updates from KTVU reporters. The audio and video for local updates were at times choppy.

Anchor Pam Cook, in a 4:58 a.m. tweet, reported that station was experiencing a “power problem.” About an hour later, she posted a video saying there was a power outage and the station had a team of people trying to get the station back on the air.

A few minutes after 9 a.m., there was a short local news update from the Oakland studio, but Cook indicated there were still technical difficulties the station was working to resolve. As she gave one of the updates, Cook held a smart phone in her hand and was looking at it as she spoke.

Earlier in the morning people who have been trying to watch the Fox affiliate this morning have been greeted with a blank screen or messages that the station is unavailable.
