If you haven't been to a Pride event, then you have no idea what it's about.

The 2021 Lubbock Pride Parade was held this Saturday, June 12th in the Depot District, and despite the sweltering heat, a joyous time was had. Temperatures went from 99 to around 95, but that wasn't stopping the party for anyone.

Pride not only brings together the LGBTQ+ community, but also allies, friends, family and even prideful pets. It certainly is an explosion of love and color, and I think the crew hit a grand slam this year. (Sorry, but even though it's not super long, this is the best parade in town.)

Several dance squads, fire spinners and other organizations joined in on the fun. Merchants lined the streets, and music blasted from some of the Depot District's clubs.

I hope you can see it in your heart to visit a Pride event sometime in the future for yourself or in honor of a loved one. I think you'll come away full of love, hope, and joy. There's just a spirit to Pride that's seldom captured anywhere else.

Our friend and frequent radio station photographer Topher Covarubbio with NeverEnding Memories photography documented the event and just did a tremendous job. You can see more of Topher's photos here.
