Buffalo, NY (WBEN) This weekend the skies will be filled with Blue Angels and Super Hornets as Thunder over the Buffalo Waterfront takes place. If you're going, organizers have a few bits of advice before you head out.

Air show director Ben Canetti says if you don't have a ticket, stay away from the Outer Harbor.

"The crowd and the traffic will be quite large," says Canetti. "I anticipate 5,000 paid ticket holders a day. As far as traffic, Buffalo Police are working with the DOT and State Police to come up with a comprehensive plan to mitigate that as best they can." Gates open at 9am and the flying starts at noon each day," says Canetti. He adds that will help with traffic flow

For those with general admission or VIP tickets, campers, RV's, buses, travel trailers and all other oversized vehicles, 80" or taller, are not permitted. "We've spaced out the timing for arrivals. "In the general admission car area, no grills please. Other than that, bring sun block, and a bag chair will help," advises Canetti.

Buffalo Harbor State Park will also accommodate air show fans. "We're asking folks to be in our lot at 10am. It's a $20 fee, and we're not selling tickets in advance," says Angela Berti at NYS Parks.

Berti says no pop-up tents will be allowed, but picnic lunches are welcomed. Other accommodations will be made for the weekend:

The boat launches will be closed at dusk on June 17 and will reopen following the June 20th show. Additionally, the cartop boat launch will also be closed for the same duration.

Active service military members and veterans will be permitted to view the practice on Friday, June 18 for free.

Walk-in or bike-in spectators are welcome to enjoy the show from the green space in the park.

Empire Passports and other NYS Parks parking programs will not be accepted.

Slip holders at the Sun Life Marina are being required to use the north entrance at Ohio Street only. Slip holders with a valid parking pass will be permitted in the lot on a first come first served basis.

Patrons interested in dining at Charlie’s Boatyard will be required to enter at the Ohio Street entrance and purchase a $40 food voucher to be used at the restaurant on the date of purchase.
