SAN JOSE – A uniformed police officer was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision early Friday morning.

Police arrested Johnathan Hall, 27, of San Jose, on suspicion of felony hit and run and driving under the influence. Official charges are pending a review by prosecutors, police said.

The uniformed officer, who was not named, was conducting an unrelated vehicle stop near the intersection of Suncrest Ave. and Perie Lane around 12:40 a.m. Friday. While the officer was walking back to his marked vehicle, a Subaru sedan sped by and struck on the officer on the side of the road, according to police.

The sedan sped away, but arriving police located the suspect a short time later. Hall was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail.

The injured officer, who has spent 1 year on the force, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries from the collision.
