Man charged with assaulting Iowa Park police officer
Iowa Park Police arrested a man for allegedly assaulting one of their officers after a verbal disturbance.
According to the police report:
Iowa Park Police were sent to the 400 block of West Jefferson for a disturbance Thursday afternoon. They found two men and two women in the road arguing.
The officers separated them and one officer began to speak with Richard Whitaker, who was in a wheelchair.

Whitaker became aggressive when one of the women began to yell at him. He began to yell back and attempted to approach her. An officer verbally tried to stop him, but Whitaker grabbed the officer. Another officer restrained and placed him into custody.
He was charged with Assault on a Public Servant.
His bond was set at $5,000 by a judge.
