SAN JOSE – A man died late Tuesday night after he fell from his electric unicycle then was run over by a driver who fled the scene in South San Jose, according to police.
The victim was riding east on Kooser Road, a residential street near Blossom Hill Road and Camden Avenue, at about 9:55 p.m. when he fell. Police say he was immediately hit by a trailing motorist who continued driving.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office has identified him as 52-year-old San Jose resident David Jones.
No information about the driver or vehicle that hit him has been released by police. The death marked the city’s 17th traffic fatality of the year, the fourth involving a pedestrian who died and the fifth hit and run investigated in San Jose.
