There was an increased police presence in the downtown area of Walnut Creek on Wednesday evening. Just before 9:00 p.m., a criminal mob vandalized multiple locations by spray painting several business and city property with hate speech. Multiple neighboring law enforcement agencies responded to assist for an area check for the suspects, and to prevent further damage.
The mob fled the area, and investigation into the responsible parties continues.

Just as with the “peaceful looting” in WC last year, cops just stood by and watched it happen. Any police claims of “well we didn’t witness the vandalism” as reason for no arrests in reference to last night’s Antifa party are utter BS…but evidently they didn’t provide a literal police escort as they did to the “underserved youth” with armfuls of stolen merchandise last year, so guess the useless Chief can call that an improvement?
If it were Proud Boys or Oath Keepers, oh boy, THEN you’d see WCPD give a s***…but we’ve seen this play out nationwide for months and really years now, BLM/Antifa and garden variety crybaby leftists are given a free pass; even if there are some token arrests, thanks to no-bail and fellow traveler DA’s (hi Diana!), they’re right back out on the street and will never face charges.

They stood by, watched and did absolutely nothing while criminals destroyed and looted personal property and businesses. Now, they rush into action to catch the spray paint bad guys! I don’t at all blame the risk taking, hard working officers that are out there every day in the streets patrolling. It’s the department leaders who kowtow to the feckless Democrat government leaders of WC(and others, too) who are to blame.

@Aunt Barbara IMO, WCPD retreated to their station to avoid it being burned like what happened to the Third Precinct Station in Minneapolis last May. WCPD had an armored vehicle in front of their station, as well as what appeared to be every officer in their department out front guarding it. Total overkill.
This was obviously a smash and grab mob, not arsonists. They could have spared 10 men to help clear Broadway Plaza.
They also let protesters onto 680.
WCPD has always been about generating revenue for WC.

I don’t blame you or any other cop one damn bit now that you are actually targets of POS activist DA’s like Becton, city officials, and even fellow officers (usually “leadership”) in your own departments. Look at that poor cop from the nearby Walmart shooting last year…freaj with a baseball bat that had already threatened/attacked multiple people including elderly, taser was ineffective, so cop had to escalate force to his firearm and killed the psycho, but now they’re charging the cop.
In Chicago, 3am (!!) punk 13-yo kid, err, I mean “ANGEL”, had just been involved in a shooting, cop confronts him in dark alley, kid trying to be sly and toss gun behind fence but very hard to discern what he’s doing, comes up with empty hands but it was literal split-second decision, cop fired and now he’s f****d.
Daunte Wright, yes lady cop screwed up and should face appropriate charge, but as with 99.9% of these cases, if Saint Daunte had just simply complied and not resisted, he’s alive and BLM isn’t looting and torching during a “peaceful protest”.
We all know that the D.A. will drop all charges unless a p.o.c. is injured by the police. Nothing will change until the little misdirected juveniles are punished. I sincerely hope the street artists and protesters find their way to the city council members’ homes as well as the D.A’s home.

After +60 years, this 3rd generation Californian FLED the state. I feel safer and no longer worry about what my political leaders are doing. Pretty much every household in our neighborhood has at least one weapon, and the guy next door works on the side as a gunsmith. There is no need to lock our doors. When we got our new license plates at the County Clerks Office, there was a lot of laughter when we said we were from California. A lot of people are fleeing no matter what Gavin bin Lyin says to the contrary.
It is not a bad idea to have an exit plan. You never know when you will need it.

I no longer frequent/shop/dine/support/volunteer for any entities in WC. I’m certain this means nothing to the VIPs. However, between family and friends, we are now up to several dozen who are doing the same. Yay.

If we have learned anything from 2020, it’s that the police enforce the laws they are told to enforce by the people that pay their salary. The fact an act is illegal or not is immaterial. Police will enforce the laws they are told to enforce, ignore the laws they are told to ignore, and make up law on the spot if the city wants to send a certain message. What the law actually says is not a consideration.

As has been mentioned here several times, WC has always been all about the $$$. Over-developed new construction and the business community have been single-minded $$$ for decades. The predictable, continued, repeated violence against the downtown might (unlikely) turn the feckless VIPs.
WC is known for their strict parking policies. The parking lot at the “library” is a gem of an example. Calmly watched a meter person give me a ticket for being two minutes over time. It was entertaining to stand calmly by, with a smile, saying nothing. She was sooooo proud of herself. That was the last time I utilized the WC library. The Lafayette Library became my library. And the place where I make major donations. After all, it is all about the $$$.
