Tying into current events, can you have something hanging from your mirror in Texas?

If you haven't heard, police in Minnesota pulled a man over for having expired tags, and possibly for an air freshener hanging from his rearview mirror, and things escalated to the point where the man was shot and killed. We'll let someone else judge how the whole thing went down, but pulling someone over for an air freshener in the first place seems ridiculous.

Here's a weird one for you. It's technically not illegal in Texas to have something hanging from your rearview mirror, but police can still stop you if they think whatever that thing is has the ability to block your vision while driving.

I certainly hope the police here have better things to do than pull people over for having some beads, a rosary, or an air freshener hanging from the rearview mirror, but it's kind of scary to know that they can. There just seems to be so much more for the police to do than bother with nonsense like that.

I do understand if someone has something as thick as a towel that is seriously hindering their vision, but I don't think I've ever seen anything like that ever in my life.

I have police in my family, and most aren't a fan of this type of busy work. Many are just doing what their shift commander or the politicians have kicked down the line. I'd like to see the police move more towards answering complaints than initiating things. It's just a thought and it would probably be a lot safer for the police, too.
