There have been 15 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Marion County to the State of Iowa Coronavirus Database over the past week. In total, 51 are considered active and infectious by the Iowa Department of Public Health, and five residents are hospitalized with the virus. As of Thursday, 8,525 residents were fully vaccinated and another 2,917 have initiated the Pfizer or Moderna two-shot series, meaning approximately 34 percent of the county’s population has received some protection from COVID-19.
