Police in Gem County believe they have found the body of a missing 8-year-old girl.

On Thursday afternoon, police found a body inside a home on Airport Road in Emmett.

Gem County Sheriff Donnie Wunder said official identification on the body is still pending but it is believe to be 8-year-old Taryn Summers, also known as Taryn Quintin.

Taryn Summers was reported missing on Monday.

Her two siblings, 17-year-old Tristan Sexton and 14-year-old Taylor Summers are considered runaways who haven't been seen since last fall.

However, Wunder said Taylor Summers has been in contact with police and Sexton has been in contact with family members so law enforcement do not consider the two teens in danger. Wunder added that they do not believe they were recently with Taryn.

At a press conference Thursday night, Wunder added that one person has been taken into custody in connection to the case but did not release that person's name.

Wunder said the investigation is "active and ongoing" and no further information will be released at this time.

"I want to thank everyone for their concern and support during the last few days. I want to thank our state partners. I know state police and our federal partners the U.S. Marshal's Office and the FBI, their time, resources and effort, have made this an investigation update possible," Wunder said.
