New Vista, LexArts launch partnership plan to hold mural ceremony in May

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)New Vista has partnered with LexArts and plan to dedicate a new mural “A New Day Dawning,” painted on their 201 Mechanic Street location in downtown Lexington.

The mural dedication ceremony will be held 4 p.m. May 18.

The mural, created by Kentucky artist Casey McKinney, of Louisville, shines a positive light on recovery from mental health and substance use for the entire Lexington community.

Casey McKinney was selected from a pool of artists who submitted their mural proposals in 2020. “A New Day Dawning” was chosen by a captive audience in regards to its visually impacting connection to New Vista.

The way it reminisces on New Vista’s mission, the belief that everyone has potential to become something better and enhance not only themselves but their future.

New Vista has been part of the downtown Lexington community for many decades.

The Mechanic Street clinic offers Medication Assisted Recovery, Serious Mental Illness services, Recovery Services for Families, outpatient therapy and psychiatry services, The Drop-In Center for homelessness services, mental health, substance use, housing and employment support.
