The Cincinnati Bengals paid tribute via Twitter on Wednesday to running back Giovani Bernard, released by the team last week after eight seasons in Cincinnati.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Wednesday afternoon that they signed Bernard on Tuesday. Bernard reportedly agreed Monday to a one-year deal with the Super Bowl LV champions.

Cincinnati Bengals running back Giovani Bernard (25) scores a touchdown during the second quarter of a Week 8 NFL football game against the Tennessee Titans, Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020, at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati.

From the Bengals:

The San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks also pursued Bernard, according to a report from ESPN's Jenna Laine. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweeted that the Kansas City Chiefs expressed interest in Bernard.

Bernard said farewell to the Bengals and their fans late last week, tweeting that he has "nothing but love for (Cincinnati)."

The Enquirer's Tyler Dragon wrote Monday that the 5-foot-9 running back gives Tom Brady and the defending Super Bowl champions a nice pass-catching threat coming out of the backfield.
