Attorney for convicted cop killer Travis Boys says he deserves new trial
A State Appeals Court is being asked to give convicted cop killer Travis Boys a new trial.
Boys was convicted of killing New Orleans Police Officer Daryle Holloway back in 2015 after Holloway had arrested him and put him in the back of his police cruiser.
Boys’ attorney claims the state prosecutors engaged in racial discrimination by excluding some black jurors and that the trial judge improperly handled conflicting testimony about Boys’ psychological state.
The state responded by defending its jury challenges saying the trial jury was 47% Black and that proves no racial discrimination and that the conflicting psychological testimony was properly handled by the trial court.
The appeals court took the arguments under advisement and said it will issue its ruling at a later, unspecified, date.
Boys was sentenced to life in prison.
